Weald 50km Ultra Trail Challenge
Weald 50km Ultra Trail Race, Kent. The undulating route takes you off road for about 80% through the Ashdown Forest, and across Pooh Sticks Bridge, made famous by AA Milne stories about Winnie the Pooh and gang.
The day started off as a very foggy wake up and with no idea of the route and my map reading skills still in need of a little work i must say I was a little worried! With a 10 min drive from our bed and breakfast we arrived at the start line and collection point for registration and race numbers etc
Forty minutes later after race information given en-mass at the start line we are off.
Through beautiful fields the scenery was truly amazing. It was hot it was humid. The top and highest point of the race Ashdown Forrest provided us with amazing views and horrible hills !
This was the biggest part we had to go with out a check point and refill of water. 11km with no support felt like forever but we pushed on through and eventually arrived for fuel and refill of water. I filled my pack four times that day 6 litres of water ......that how hot it was !
Amazing race and would highly recommend. In the past they have had problems with their signage on route but this year it was spot on. We got lost at a farm and had to navigate ourselves back onto the race path but with google maps and their map they provided us with this was an easy adjustment and we didn't loose much time. We only gain 2 extra km's on our final total that day bringing us in at 52km
Would i do it again? ....defiantly love it would highly recommend it.
